SAEB Faculty Members and Students Participate in the DOMANI International Summer School at the University of Catania, Italy
The international summer school “NATURATION: Nature-Based Urban Regeneration,” organised within the framework of the DOMANI project and funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme, is taking place in Catania, Italy, from 14 to 27 September 2026.
Representing the School of Agroecology and Business (SEAB) of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences (MULS), three faculty members and three students are participating in the summer school: Dr P. Sodgerel, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering; Yu. Ariuntungalag, Lecturer; Kh. Ariunsanaa, Coordinator of the KOSEN Programme; Ch. Enkhsanaa, a third-year student in Environmental Monitoring and Assessment; J. Myagmar, a fourth-year student in Environmental Monitoring and Assessment; and N. Enkhlen, a student in the KOSEN Programme.
The summer school focuses on nature-based urban solutions, biodiversity, ecosystem management, environmental governance, and sustainable development. Participants are attending lectures, practical sessions, and expert consultations delivered by academics and researchers from the project’s partner universities in Europe, Mongolia, Ukraine, and Japan. Using Catania as a case study, they are also taking part in field-based learning, case studies, teamwork, and group discussions. Through these activities, the participants are developing and presenting solutions based on real-world environmental and urban challenges.
On 17 September 2026, the DOMANI Project Steering Committee held a hybrid meeting, with participants attending both in person and online. The meeting reviewed the current status of project implementation, activities completed under the project’s work packages, and the tasks planned for the next stage. The partners also discussed teaching and learning materials for the micro-credential programmes, evaluation procedures, and accreditation.
Further discussions covered the uploading of course content to the DO_Learn digital learning platform, public promotion of the micro-credential programmes, financial reporting, risk management, and joint activities planned for 2026 and 2027.
B. Daginnas, Coordinator for Science and International Cooperation at SEAB, joined the Steering Committee meeting online. Dr P. Sodgerel, Head of the Department of Environmental Studies, and Kh. Ariunsanaa, Head of the KOSEN Programme, attended the meeting in person. They successfully presented the objectives, thematic areas, proposed programme, and organisational preparations for the DOMANI International Hackathon, which is planned to take place at the School of Agroecology and Business in Darkhan in 2027.
The international summer school provides an important opportunity for faculty members and students to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in sustainable development and nature-based solutions. It also contributes to closer cooperation among the partner universities and lays a strong foundation for future joint teaching and research activities.
